The creator of Dark Souls talks about his new game and says that his intention is to make his games stop feeling clunky

FromSoftware, the renowned studio behind hits like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, has revealed its upcoming project titled The Duskbloods, which will focus on the PvPvE gameplay mode and will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. In a recent entry on the Creator’s Voice blog, director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared details about this new title, describing it as an evolution in the movement experience compared to the studio’s previous games.

A new direction for the study

The Duskbloods introduce dynamic movement options, such as sprinting, super high jumps, and double jumps, aimed at eliminating the clumsiness associated with platforming mechanics in past installments, like Blighttown in Dark Souls. Miyazaki emphasized that the characters in the game, who are part of a group called Bloodsworn, possess superhuman abilities derived from a special blood, granting them unusual agility.

The cast of characters will be different from previous games, as there will be no complete avatar customization. Instead, the game will feature a dozen predefined characters, each with customizable characteristics. Unlike its previous titles, The Duskbloods will present a novel depth in combat mechanics, as each character will be equipped with ranged attack weapons, which will make a significant difference in gameplay.

Additionally, it is expected that the characters, including a unique elderly figure in the form of a winged mouse, will reflect a cute and Nintendo-like style, a rarity in FromSoftware’s aesthetic. Fans can look forward to an experience that combines the studio’s signature elements with a more accessible and cheerful approach, while still retaining the complexity that has come to define its games.

The recent alliance between Nintendo and FromSoftware has left millions of players perplexed with the announcement of the title The Duskbloods. Developed by the prestigious studio known for releases like Bloodborne and Elden Ring, this new venture promises to immerse players in a dark and gothic multiplayer fantasy world. The game is expected to arrive on consoles in 2026, generating high interest within the gaming community.

Initially it was not intended for Switch 2

The Duskbloods will be published globally by Nintendo, although with the exception of the Japanese market, where FromSoftware will maintain control of its release. This strategy suggests that, despite the collaboration, the Japanese studio will retain the creative direction of the project. However, fans are wondering if there will be versions of the game on other platforms.

The situation recalls previous collaborations, such as Octopath Traveler, which debuted as a Nintendo Switch exclusive in 2018 before expanding to other consoles. On the other hand, the case of Bayonetta could indicate that The Duskbloods will have a more permanent exclusivity. The extent of Nintendo’s investment in this project is still unknown, leaving the door open to speculation about its multi-console future.

Interestingly, The Duskbloods was not initially designed for Nintendo Switch 2, but for the original hybrid console. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s director, revealed that after an initial meeting with Nintendo to discuss ideas, the project evolved into a development adapted to the capabilities of the new hardware. This demonstrates FromSoftware’s flexibility in response to the technological demands of the current market.

The future of The Duskbloods remains shrouded in a cloak of uncertainty, especially regarding its exclusivity and potential releases on other platforms.

The world of video games has been shaken by the announcement of a new title from FromSoftware, titled The Duskbloods, which was revealed during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. This development is surprising not only for being an addition to Nintendo’s library but also for its focus on a more robust multiplayer experience, an unexpected twist for a studio known for its narrative-driven and individual experience approach.

From Software embarks on another peculiar multiplayer adventure

The Duskbloods stands out as a PvPvE action game that supports up to eight players, marking a significant evolution in the studio’s direction towards multiplayer. Unlike previous titles like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, where multiplayer was an optional feature, this new IP is designed from the ground up to offer a collective experience, breaking down the barriers between single-player and shared gameplay.

Although at first glance it may evoke the aesthetics of Bloodborne, FromSoftware assures that The Duskbloods is a completely new concept. This shift in focus follows the trend initiated with Elden Ring, as well as the friend project Nightreign, a game that had already explored new multiplayer dynamics, albeit with a limited number of participants. This suggests that FromSoftware is committed to expanding its universe through cooperative and competitive gaming experiences.

With the industry increasingly leaning towards multiplayer-focused titles, FromSoftware’s new game could signify a radical shift in its creative strategy. Although fans may have some reservations about this new approach, expectations are high. FromSoftware’s evolution towards multiplayer could redefine the way their experiences are enjoyed, and many will be watching closely how this new chapter in their history unfolds.

On March 10th, the tenth anniversary of the acclaimed action and horror title, Bloodborne, was celebrated, without Sony announcing any significant celebration or update, which has left many fans disappointed. Although the company has included the game in its promotional material, it has not shown any signs of wanting to develop a remaster or remake, creating a sense of neglect among the community.

The community has made the closest thing we will see to a Bloodborne remaster

In response to this lack of official support, modders have taken the initiative to revive and enhance the gaming experience for PC users. One of the most notable creations is Bloodborne Enhanced, available on NexusMods. This modification not only optimizes gameplay but also introduces new features that significantly expand the game’s content, allowing players to activate new lamps, reface bosses, and enjoy a self-replenishing system that eliminates the need to farm for items.

The community has enthusiastically embraced these initiatives from the modders, praising the care and dedication they have put into creating additional content. The mod page has attracted a large number of positive comments, indicating that many players are eager to explore these new experiences in Yharnam. With additional tools, weapons, blood gems, and the option to quickly access bosses, “Bloodborne Enhanced” is shaping up to be a unique way to relive a classic from FromSoftware.

Despite rumors about possible updates to the game files, which led to speculation about a remaster, nothing official has been announced to date. The situation has left many fans with a mix of hope and disappointment as they wait for Sony to acknowledge the importance of Bloodborne in its catalog. For example, by making Bloodborne in Minecraft.

The wait for a new version, remaster, or remake of Bloodborne continues, and many fans are feeling the weight of this prolonged uncertainty. Despite Sony providing updates and new versions for several of its games, such as the underrated Days Gone, FromSoftware’s acclaimed work remains forgotten. This void has led some fans to create their own versions of the game, with one of the most notable projects being created by a user known as Potomy.

An initiative born from the love for both games

Potomy has taken the initiative to recreate Bloodborne within the world of Minecraft, using an ambitious mod that not only allows him to build detailed maps but also to populate the environment with enemies and iconic beasts from the original title. On his Twitter account, he has shared numerous images of his interpretation of Yharnam, emphasizing the spectacularity of the cathedrals he has erected. Potomy’s attention to detail in this project is such that his work has generated admiration among the game’s followers.

Potomy’s YouTube channel complements his work, showcasing not only the gameplay but also the creative process behind the creation of the enemies that will inhabit his version of Yharnam. Although his last update was six months ago, interaction on Twitter is constant, with recent posts including comparisons of scenarios that demonstrate the progress of his project. The work he is doing, while not an exact replica, is close enough to evoke nostalgic memories among Bloodborne fans.

Meanwhile, rumors about possible announcements of remastering or new versions of the game continue to circulate, but to date, Sony has not made any official comments confirming such speculation. In the community, discontent is growing due to the lack of news, and Potomy’s initiative presents itself as a breath of fresh air for those who still hold affection for the original work.

A player has decided to challenge their own skills in the popular video game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, posting a daily video on their channel titled Killing Inner Isshin Everyday. In this challenge, they face Inner Isshin, one of the most feared bosses in the title developed by FromSoftware. For 335 consecutive days, this player aims to defeat this formidable enemy, using only their sword and without the possibility of healing, using items or charms, or being hit during combat.

The motivation behind this arduous challenge is the growing frustration of the player due to the lack of additional content in Sekiro since its release six years ago. Unlike other FromSoftware titles, such as Elden Ring or Bloodborne, which have kept their communities engaged with updates and expansions, Sekiro has largely remained static. This player hopes that their dedication and visibility on social media can influence a possible expansion or sequel to the game.

A rather unique but not singular form of peaceful protest

Comparing their effort to other challenges in the gamer community, such as a player who kills Hornet daily in Hollow Knight while waiting for the arrival of Silksong, this challenge also reflects a desire to keep attention on a title that, despite its success, has seen little subsequent development. As six years since its release are fulfilled, the likelihood of FromSoftware announcing a new expansion seems elusive, and many in the community are asking what will happen with the future of Sekiro.

The limits and rules imposed by the player not only increase the difficulty of the challenge but also highlight their commitment to the game. Although their goal is clear, time will tell if this bloody routine succeeds in generating the interest that the developer hopes for in order to continue expanding the Sekiro universe.

Shuhei Yoshida and Sony: among those who did not understand Demon’s Souls

Despite the later success, FromSoftware faced significant challenges in its early days, particularly due to management by Sony. Shuhei Yoshida, former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has acknowledged that he did not adequately value Demon’s Souls at the time, which led to the game not being localized into English for its release, a mistake that weighed on the relationship between the two companies. Yoshida recalled playing Demon’s Souls and dismissing it after just two hours, claiming it was “incredibly bad,” which reflects a serious lack of vision regarding the potential of the title.

Despite the initial disappointment, the relationship between FromSoftware and Sony began to improve with the release of Bloodborne, which Yoshida considers one of the company’s best games. However, this resurgence in collaboration came after FromSoftware had previously declined to make a sequel to Demon’s Souls, disappointed by the deal they received for its release. In fact, Yoshida revealed that they were already working on a sequel, but frustration led the company to seek other publishing options.

Yoshida’s statements highlight a significant shift in the perception of FromSoftware within the industry. He admitted his mistake in not recognizing the value of Demon’s Souls, a situation that, fortunately, allowed for a successful second attempt with Bloodborne, thus marking a new chapter in the relationship between both entities.

No matter the reasons, fans are very disappointed with this announcement

The remaster of Days Gone will include significant improvements and a new mode, which could revitalize interest in a title that, despite its lukewarm reception at launch, has a core of loyal followers. However, the choice to remaster a game from five years ago that does not have a confirmed future sequel has left many other players stunned, especially fans of Bloodborne.

On various online platforms and discussion forums, fans have expressed their confusion and frustration over Sony’s decision to prioritize Days Gone instead of a remaster of Bloodborne. Some users question the logic behind this choice, suggesting that there may be deeper reasons related to the vision of director Hidetaka Miyazaki. According to rumors, Miyazaki may be preventing a remaster of Bloodborne from being developed, as he prefers to work on a new version of the game in the future.

The comments from fans reflect a mix of bewilderment and resignation, with some warning that their discontent could grow if another remastering is announced before Bloodborne. In this sense, the situation has led to jokes and comparisons, with many claiming they could not bear the release of remastered titles like The Last of Us Part 1 before any progress is shown for Bloodborne.

Will Dorothy and her red shoes be the protagonists?

Neowiz has also confirmed the release date of the DLC for Lies of P, which is expected to arrive very soon. This expansion is highly anticipated, especially after the original game’s ending revealed a new character, Dorothy, who seems to be connected to The Wizard of Oz. Rumors suggest that she could be the protagonist of both the DLC and the sequel, although it remains to be seen how the plots will develop.

Reddit users have been debating the possibility that the DLC will focus on Dorothy, especially after one of the game’s endings left these questions open. Commentators have also highlighted how the rapid development of the sequel could be linked to market research conducted by Neowiz, reinforcing the premise that the company is responding to the demands and desires of its followers.

With all this in mind, more details about the DLC and the sequel are expected to be revealed throughout the year. However, fans are eager to know if Dorothy will be the protagonist of one or both projects, generating speculation about the direction this intriguing saga will take. Sony cancels a fan project related to Bloodborne and fans suspect a bigger plan

Since its release in 2015, Bloodborne has set a precedent in the soulslike genre, gaining over the years a devoted fan base that clamors for a remaster or remake of the acclaimed title. To this day, the game is only available on PS4 and PS5 without an update to improve its performance, making the desire for a new version increasingly urgent.

Two Bloodborne-related projects shut down by Sony

Recently, Sony has made decisions that have left Bloodborne fans with more questions than answers. The company has issued DMCA claims against two community-developed projects: a mod that allowed playing at 60 FPS and a Bloodborne demake for PSX. The decision to halt these projects has caused surprise and speculation among players, who suggest that the Japanese company might be on the verge of an official announcement related to the IP.

One of the affected creators is Lance McDonald, who has hinted that Sony’s moves might be related to a broader strategy. According to McDonald, the company might be removing fan projects to facilitate the release of an eventual remake or port of Bloodborne, which would allow them to register trademarks related to the title without competition from unofficial content. “What the hell are they doing?” the creator asks on social media.

For her part, Lilith Walther, responsible for the controversial demake and the Bloodborne Kart project, has confirmed that she received a claim similar to the one previously sent to the 60 FPS mod. The intervention of MarkScan Enforcement, the company hired by Sony to handle these claims, has intensified speculations about the company’s intentions regarding the franchise.

The gaming community remains attentive to any official news, and the desire to revive the dark and captivating world of Bloodborne continues to be a hot topic in the gaming ecosystem. Even if it seems that in terms of emulation, they still haven’t done anything about it.
