The co-founder of New Blood Interactive, Dave Oshry, has shared his opinion on the financial viability of game distribution platforms, stating that Steam is undoubtedly the most profitable for the company.

In a recent conversation with RPG Site, Oshry emphasized that porting games to consoles is a complicated task that generates “much less” in sales compared to what they achieve through Steam. Despite this, the New Blood team continues to port their games to other platforms, but they do so mainly to satisfy their players.

What compensates the most is the PC and specifically, Steam

Oshry pointed out that the decision to bring their games to Xbox or PlayStation is not solely driven by financial interests, but by the desire to please the gaming community.

“We do it because our players want it, right?” expressed the co-founder. This dedication to fans highlights New Blood’s commitment not only to profitability but also to user experience.

A encouraging aspect for developers has been the reception of development kits for Nintendo’s new console, known as Switch 2. According to Oshry, this new kit is not drastically different from the previous one, which has allowed the studio to get their game Dusk running at 120fps with mouse controls. “Dusk on Switch 2 works great,” he stated, suggesting a good adaptation of the game to the new platform.

On another note, New Blood has decided to venture into the RPG genre with Dungeons of Dusk, an adaptation of their popular title Dusk. The demo is available for free as part of the Steam Next Fest, and the full game is expected to be released this year. Additionally, GOG reaffirms its commitment to game preservation, stating that “the future of preservation is decided by the players who care.”

A game with the DNA of Diablo 2

Speaking of new projects, Moon Beast Productions, made up of former Diablo 2 developers, is working on an RPG titled Darkhaven. This ambitious game will focus on procedurally generated sandbox worlds, promising features such as deformable terrain, mining, and mod support, along with options for solo play or massive multiplayer mode. Currently, Darkhaven’s Kickstarter campaign has raised $200,000 of a $500,000 goal, with 25 days left to reach the target.

Susan Hu, also co-founder of Moon Beast, expressed her mixed feelings about competing with her own past creations and Blizzard’s remastering. However, the developers have made it clear that their intention is not simply to recreate the Diablo experience, but to offer an innovative proposal that combines elements of modern survival games.

These initiatives highlight a vibrant cycle in the gaming industry, where legends of the past intertwine with future projects and player interest continues to grow.

Genre Fusion

Players will be able to experience Arkheron during a free trial that will be available from February 20 to March 2, 2026, as part of the Steam Next Fest. This access phase will allow interested parties to evaluate the proposal of a video game that, at first glance, seems complicated by mixing so many concepts, but according to those who have tried the title, offers polished and fun gameplay.

The game takes place in battles where players initially lack skills and must search for chests to find equipment that will allow them to unlock a corresponding hero.

The mechanics where players must fight both against other players and against enemies controlled by AI. In addition, Bonfire Studios confirms that Arkheron will be a game as a service, with periodic updates of heroes and a design that encourages exploration on maps without a fixed structure.

However, the game has a significant limitation: it is currently not designed for solo players or duos, which could restrict its accessibility. Still, the fluid combat and emphasis on team coordination make it a compelling option for those seeking a dynamic multiplayer experience.

With the promise of a robust skill system and constant updates, Arkheron could mark a new approach to gender diversity within the video game industry.

Video game fans now have an excellent opportunity to immerse themselves in the vast world of the Fallout saga, thanks to a Steam offer that makes all titles in the series and their additional content available for only $77. This promotion is valid until February 6 and allows players to explore a compilation of experiences ranging from turn-based RPGs to 3D adventures in an open world.

Looking to capitalize on the series’ pull

The first two Fallout games are considered classics of the genre, with their isometric style and turn-based design that established the foundations of the series. Although they have a nostalgic feel, these titles are essential for understanding the blend of retro aesthetics and sarcastic humor that characterizes the saga. Many new players are advised to start with these installments or with Fallout 3 and New Vegas, which offer a more modern and dynamic approach to RPGs.

Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, developed by Bethesda and Obsidian respectively, are widely praised for their immersive storytelling and real-time gameplay. These titles stand out not only for their graphics and combat mechanics but also for their deep character development and moral choices. While Fallout 4 introduced base building and resource mechanics, Fallout 76 strayed from the traditional format to offer a multiplayer experience in a survival environment, although its launch received mixed reviews. However, the game has evolved and has established itself as one of the most prominent in its genre.

With each release offering a diverse experience, the Fallout series has captivated millions worldwide and has become a cultural phenomenon. Anyone who chooses to delve into this universe is sure to find something that resonates with their inclination for video games. The sale on Steam presents a unique opportunity to enjoy these classics and more contemporary titles at an affordable price.

Riot Games takes a new step to secure the future of its MMORPG

The recent success of Hytale, a project that Riot Games decided to abandon after years of unfruitful development, has reignited criticism towards the company, especially regarding its own ongoing projects. One of the most anticipated is the MMO-RPG based on Runaterra, announced in December 2020, which has faced multiple changes in its direction and a significant reboot in early 2023.

A high-profile signing

The departure of Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, who led the development of the MMO and was an active voice in informing about its progress, generated a wave of concern and rumors suggesting the possible cancellation of the project, given the silence surrounding any updates since his departure. This context has led many to wonder about the future of the game, as similar events have foreshadowed the end of other initiatives in the video game industry.

However, the recent hiring of Raymond Bartos, a former producer of World of Warcraft, by Riot Games could signify a positive change in the direction of the MMO-RPG. Bartos expressed his enthusiasm for joining the team and his commitment to “adding value to players” and “enhancing the experience within the MMO”. His words have raised expectations among the community, which hopes that this new addition will bring a new momentum to the project.

In this context, Bartos’ arrival aligns with Riot Games’ desire to regain the trust of fans, who have been restless due to the lack of news. With an expert in the field joining the team, there are hopes that significant progress will be made in the development of the MMO-RPG based on Runaterra, finally bringing the project closer to its realization.

With this impressive launch, the game has achieved what many considered unlikely after years of uncertainty and delays in its development.

A game that has taken the world by storm at its launch

The purchase of Hypixel Studios by Riot Games in 2020 generated high expectations for Hytale. However, the project faced multiple obstacles, including development issues and significant revisions to its graphics engine, which led to a prolonged silence from the studio. During this time, updates on the progress of Hytale were limited to sporadic communications, mostly during the holiday season.

Recently, in an unexpected turn of events, Riot Games cut off financial support to the studio, forcing it to buy back its shares to ensure the continuity of development. Despite the challenges, the Hypixel team, made up of just 50 developers, has self-funded and has made progress in creating Hytale. This context highlights the resource differences between a small developer and a giant like Riot Games.

Riot’s response has been swift; through a message on their social media, the company congratulated Hypixel on the launch of early access, reflecting a recognition of the game’s success, despite the internal challenges the company faces. This recognition suggests that if Hytale had been released under the Riot Games label, it would likely have received harsher criticism given the high expectations associated with it. In this sense, Hytale’s success highlights the ability of a smaller team to create a product that resonates with the gaming community, even in the face of adversity.

If Expedition 33 can be easily broken, blame Final Fantasy X, says its director

The director of Clair Obscur, Guillaume Broche, has recently acknowledged that the title Expedition 33 might be too easy for some players, especially in the final boss fight. If Expedition 33 can be easily broken, blame Final Fantasy X, says its director

The director of Clair Obscur, Guillaume Broche, has recently acknowledged that the title Expedition 33 might be too easy for some players, especially in the final boss fight. During a conversation with Edge magazine, Broche explained that many players chose to complete side content before facing the climax of the game, which led to a combat experience that was less challenging than the team had anticipated.

A game inspired by the classics, also for the bad

The structure of Expedition 33 is inspired by classic RPGs from the PS2 era, such as Final Fantasy 10, where players have the freedom to either advance directly to the final boss or dedicate themselves to exploring additional content. Broche admitted that, while the intention was to allow those focused on the narrative to jump from the end of Act Two directly to the end of the game, it resulted in many players completely surpassing the recommended difficulty levels.

Since the last update, players have discovered ways to inflict extremely high damage, which has impacted the gaming experience. Some users have begun to raise their damage statistics to astronomical figures, reaching tens of billions, something that Broche considers a success in terms of game design. “If you go back and look at Final Fantasy 10, you can take down the final boss in one hit if you’re overpowered,” Broche explained, personalizing the reflection with his own experiences in the genre.

Before the launch, the Sandfall team had modest expectations, betting that Expedition 33 would score around 80 on Metacritic. Despite the challenges in the difficulty of the final combat, Broche and his team feel satisfied with the overall results and their approach to RPGs in the gameplay formula.

The highly anticipated game Sea of Remnants was presented in 2025 during a NetEase Games event, capturing attention with its open-world pirate concept, wrapped in a cartoon aesthetic. This title, developed by Joker Studio, moves away from multiplayer experiences like Sea of Thieves, focusing on a solid narrative and a turn-based combat system, similar to titles like Persona.

We’re going to have a blast

The closed beta of the game, which will start on February 5, 2026, has generated great anticipation among fans. The registration period, which will take place from January 8 to 23, will be quite selective. Interested parties will be able to register through a lottery on social media or via the official page, although it is expected that the process will be complicated for many.

Sea of Remnants will offer a single-player experience, where navigators venture into the Sea of Oblivion, seeking to recover fragments of their lost memory. With an extensive oceanic world to explore, players will face battles both on land and at sea, as well as participate in various mini-games that will enhance the atmosphere of pirate life.

One of the highlights of the game is its turn-based tactical combat system, which promises to offer a smooth attack dynamic and well-designed animations. Although some encounters will include real-time actions against low-level enemies, the main focus will be on strategy during battles.

This project has been well received by the community, although we still do not know many more details about its release. Sea of Remnants is expected to be available throughout 2026, offering players a new way to experience pirate life from a narrative and immersive perspective.

RuneScape has reached an impressive milestone by turning 25 years old since its launch on January 4, 2001. This MMORPG, which started as a browser game developed by two brothers in their family home, has maintained its relevance in the video game industry, a rare achievement in such a competitive and ever-evolving market.

A game that has evolved significantly over the years

Throughout its existence, RuneScape has undergone multiple changes in its engine and graphics, but it has managed to maintain the essence of the original game. With two operational versions, modern RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, the title offers players different experiences: the first with constant updates and a more modern approach, and the second that preserves the retro style of the game as it was in 2007. This duality has allowed RuneScape to evoke nostalgia among its players, as well as demonstrated Jagex’s willingness to listen to the voices of its community.

One of the features that distinguishes RuneScape from other contemporary MMORPGs is its emphasis on free exploration and player autonomy, unlike titles like Final Fantasy XIV, which focus on fixed narratives. In RuneScape, players are free to forge their own story, choosing from over 20 skills and facing challenges at their own pace.

Jagex’s commitment to its player base has been evident, especially in 2025, when the company launched a vote to eliminate microtransactions following growing user frustration. This focus on community feedback has strengthened loyalty to the game, leaving the door open for RuneScape to remain relevant for another generation of players for the next 25 years.

The remarkable success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has catapulted Sandfall Interactive from a relatively unknown studio to one of the most followed in the video game industry. This sudden transformation has generated considerable pressure on the developers, who now must meet the high expectations of a growing fan base. In a recent interview, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, the lead writer of the studio, commented on the palpable pressure the team feels to please the audience, acknowledging that it is a common concern in the studio.

An error that many studies have fallen into

Despite these expectations, Sandfall Interactive is clear that it will not allow external influences to affect its creative process. Svedberg-Yen emphasized the importance of maintaining the essence of the game, pointing out that too many TV series and books have been influenced by the desire to please people and, in the process, end up losing their essence. This approach of trusting their own vision is reflected in the studio’s creative philosophy.

Guillaume Broche, co-founder of Sandfall Interactive, reinforces this stance, stating that they developed their first game without the pressure of seeking widespread approval. Broche argues that the sincerity and authenticity of their work have been key to their success, and that replicating that approach for their next project should be equally effective. If it doesn’t work, well, bad luck, he added, emphasizing that the most important thing is to do something new, but following the same principles that led them to success.

Sandfall Interactive, firm in its course, moves forward with the goal of creating experiences that resonate with its artistic vision, despite the dichotomies between its creative desires and market expectations. Meanwhile, fans of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 eagerly await what the studio will bring next.
