The Great German Comic Controversy: Mortadelo and Filemón’s Banned Adventure

In Germany, Clever & Smart came to have not only two unpublished comics in Spain, but also three censored and redrawed pages of an adventure carried out in honor of the German country.

When we talk about the “Spain brand” we often forget one of the products that is most recognized beyond our borders. Although it may seem strange to us because it is still something very “caní”, Mortadelo and Filemón have been a huge success around the world. But maybe nowhere as much as in Germany, where Clever & Smart (the translation of those places) came to have not only two unpublished comics in Spain, but three censored and redrawn pages of an adventure made in honor of the German country. Don’t run, no, you fool, I’m going to give you censorship!

Landing in Germany

The year 1972. Ibáñez had just finished the twelfth long comic book of the TIA agents, ‘Gatolandia 76’, when his cartoons began to land in a Germany still divided by the Berlin Wall. Clever and Smart were still working for the TIA (which instead of ‘Aeronautical Investigation Technicians’ would now be ‘Trans-Internationaler Agentering’), but instead of fighting against GRANDMOTHER they were fighting against the OMA (‘Organisation Militanter Agenten’, it should be said that ‘Oma’ means ‘Grandmother’ in German). The name of the Super was changed to Mr. L.

Small changes that did not prevent Ibáñez from signing Mortadelo comics and comics in Germany. So much so that he even created a character that resembled his German publisher’s secretary, the later ignored Irma. Later, the agents would be known as Flip & Flap. Flip and Flap worked, paradoxically, for the OMA (“Organisation für Meister-Agenten”) and the Super was called “Mr. Knacks”.

The last way Mortadelo and Filemón would be known in Germany was as Fred and Jeff, the name given to the VHS edition of the short films by Estudio Vara. The thing is that Ibáñez was so grateful to Germany that between 1981 and 1982 he would serialize in Mortadelo magazine a story that would have our agents going around Bavaria or Berlin: In Germany. But the h0menage came out regular.

Apocrypha and censorship

The trip to Germany in question is in search of The Rat and The Pachyderm, two jewel thieves who have stolen Queen Elizabeth II’s jewels (“Her Majesty, the Queen, will have to attend the opening ceremony of the Parliament with a beret because of the theft of her crown and other jewels that blah… blah…”). And of course, to avoid problems between the two sides, all references to East Berlin were deleted in the German country.

In the first censored page (and translated thanks to the Unofficial Page of Mortadelo and Filemón), Filemón discovers that they have arrived in East Berlin and end up knocking out a policeman who asks them for their papers. This could not be allowed in Germany, so what they discover instead is that they have arrived in Frankfurt, where there is a demonstration around the train. Finally, a rabbit appears with the slogan “The train to the West is a pest!” and asking them for a donation. The drawing tries to imitate Ibáñez’s, but it is between a copycat and forced. It doesn’t succeed.

The second one is completely original, and it is worth reading to understand how difficult it is to make a good Mortadelo comic book. In the original, the agents try to cross the Berlin Wall from underneath but end up unblocking a pipe: the bad smell makes them pass through, leaving everyone disgusted. However, in the German version they doubt whether they are in Frankfurt or New York because there are “too many vandals on the loose” and end up arriving in Berlin in the trunk of the soccer coach’s car, which was leaking oil (justifying that they were muddy to continue the story).

The third and most flagrant replaces a gigantic and hilarious cartoon in which the agents sneak into East Germany and everybody shoots at them (“Headquarters? Yes, send six fighter-bombers! And prepare the surface-to-surface missiles!”) with six in which Mortadelo acknowledged having pawned the crown jewels and turned around to get them back (“Well… matter settled!”). A masterpiece of absent-mindedness and the most profound ridicule.

Unpublished comics

In the 80’s, Ibáñez’s fame was such in Germany that 280 new strips of 13 Rue del Percebe were created, long comics by Botones Sacarino with stellar appearances by Mortadelo and Filemón (in one of which they get to meet Ronald Reagan while they prevent Tete Cohete from blowing up the Statue of Liberty and in another, for example, they use Professor Bacterio’s inventions in the writing of El aullido vespertino (The Evening Howl).

And, of course, there were also two completely unpublished Mortadelo and Filemón stories: ‘Nur kein Gehetze, wir haben Arbeitsplätze’ (translated by the TIA forum as ‘¡Que no cunda el pánico! Tenemos trabajo!’) came out at a time of very high unemployment in Germany, and shows the two agents testing methods to reduce it. In fact, its cover announced “Have you also been left on the street and without a job? Mortadelo and Filemón will give you some advice”. Just the people you want to get job advice from.

The second, ‘Vom Affen gelaust und losgesaust’ (translated by the TIA forum as ‘Monos con garrapatas… y huidas por patas!’) has a more Spanish line but is clearly not drawn by Ibáñez. In the story, both agents were fighting a poacher. These are mere curiosities that deserve to go down in the history of Spanish comics. Or German. European in any case! Don’t run, no, I’m going to give you apocryphal!

Love in the Age of Computers: The Early Days of Digital Dating

They intended to unite 49 women and 49 men by finding the most compatible people with each other. Spoiler alert: it was an absolute disaster.

We tend to think that we have invented it all, but deep down it has been around for years and years, only in much more rudimentary ways. Take for example Tinder, Adoptauntio, Badoo or whatever you want to use, the way we flirt in modern times, something our grandparents wouldn’t understand… If it wasn’t for the fact that in 1959 people were already finding the love of their lives thanks to a computer.

I gave you all my love, at love dot com

In 1954, a milestone in computing took place: the IBM 650, the first computer to be manufactured on a large scale, was assembled. More or less: a total of 2000 units were produced, each weighing 900 kilos. As a curiosity, it was the first computer that gave some money to its developers… And the one that served for more mundane matters such as, well, flirting.

Stanford University, 1959. Philip A. Fialer and James Harvey are two mathematics students very interested in the future of computing who are preparing a final project destined to make history. Its name couldn’t be less interesting: ‘Happy Families Plan Service’ (although they later renamed it ‘Marriage Plan Service’), but the idea behind it was a good one. They intended to unite 49 women and 49 men by finding the most compatible people with each other. Spoiler: it was an absolute disaster.

The people selected were mostly Stanford students, but also residents of Los Trancos Woods, where the boys used to party. Each of these 98 people filled out a questionnaire and went through a program they created. This program compared a member of one “class” (i.e., a man) with all the members of the other class (women) and repeated this for all the members of the first class. The pair with the smallest difference in questionnaire scores was matched, and the process was repeated over and over again. The problem is that the first pair was ideal, yes, but the rest, as they were chosen and discarded… became more and more different.

Send me an e-mail and I will open my mailbox.

Fialer and Harvey only had ten minutes a day to conduct their experiment with the IBM 650, and so they decided to do the logical thing: sneak in at night and process all 98 questionnaires at the same time. All that remained was to test the success (or failure) of their idea.

The two students organized a party in their rented house hoping to have hit the nail on the head, but it is well known that you never get it right the first time and the pioneers are forgotten by history. Also, some of the dates were so disastrous that they even paired 30-year-old single mothers with 18-year-old virgins. None of the couples that came out of that computer ended up getting married and both decided that marketing it would be a big mistake.

However, they marked the line to follow that continues to this day. In fact, in 1965 the first company dedicated to computer dating was launched, ‘Operation Match’, and that same year the same experiment gave rise to the first wedding ever performed thanks to computers: Marilyn Anderson and Gordon Keating still keep his questionnaire as proof of their love between chips, bytes and exaggeratedly heavy computers.

The business flourished in the years that followed, and people would pay as much as four dollars at the time (about twenty today taking inflation into account) to fill out a questionnaire with questions like “Do you believe in a god who answers prayer?” or “Is extensive sexual activity in preparation for marriage part of ‘growing up’?” The system on which these questionnaires were measured against each other was an IBM 7090, i.e., exactly the same thing Fialer and Harvey did shortly before. Only they were making money.

The computer-based matchmaking system would eventually evolve in the 1980s into something you’ve surely seen in movies: the VHS tapes of suitors introducing themselves that were sent to the homes of bachelors and bachelorettes to choose their -perhaps- next partner. In 1995, finally, Match.com was born by Gary Kremen, the same person who was smart enough to register the Sex.com website in 1994, earning more than 80 million dollars in sales to the highest bidder. Ah, how beautiful is love!

From Invisibility to Power: The Evolution of Sue Storm in Marvel Comics

How has he survived to this day as the most important and powerful character in Marvel’s First Family?

“Sue Storm, The Invisible Girl. Favorite hobbies: fashion, cooking, cosmetics and reading romance novels“; “If she marries, will she leave The Fantastic Four? Your guess will be as good as ours – it’ll probably depend on who she marries!”. The first annual Fantastic Four comic book created a profile of the girl in the group that even at the time gave some pause. Stan Lee didn’t know what to do with the character, her power was the weakest and readers didn’t want her on the team. So how has she survived to this day as the most important and powerful character in Marvel’s First Family?

Having tea and looking at dresses

The Fantastic Four were born in 1961, at the height of the Yankee economic boom: World War II had ended fifteen years earlier and Vietnam was still an exotic country that most Americans had never heard of. Superman had been flying over the skies of Metropolis for 23 years and in the offices of Marvel, a company that had just changed its name from the classic Timely, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee were preparing the first comic book of a collection that would change everything.

The Fantastic Four is the first superhero comic in which the heroes are, within their capabilities… human. They show imperfections, they are everyday people and, in addition, they fight against strange alien villains or, in a propaganda twist that bordered on the absurd, from beyond the Iron Curtain. A family of superheroes. Reed Richards, the adult; Johnny Storm, the teenager; Ben Grimm, the bronco… And Susan Storm, who under Stan Lee’s rule had the personality of “the girl”.

Do you know why Sue gets into the space trip that would later give them powers? Because Reed “is her fiancé, and where you go, I go.” In her day, with a female stereotype sustained by I Love Lucy and romance comics, this was what was expected of her. A woman who, paradoxically, made herself… invisible. While her companions could boast extravagant powers (the Human Torch, Mister Fantastic, the Thing), she stood aside, usually adopting the role of damsel in distress. And the public began to take notice.

You should throw her out

On the mailing page of issue #6 it’s a Martin Ross who opens fire on Sue: “She’s the greatest! But I think you should kick Susan Storm out. She never does anything”. These two lines – who said Twitter invented being a hater? – led to an explosion of people for and against that culminated in a little story where the characters read the letters and tried to explain that she was essential to the group.

“Some readers say I don’t contribute enough, that you’d be better off without me! And maybe they’re right,” Sue lamented before Reed and Ben set the record straight, comparing the superheroine to Abraham Lincoln’s mother, culminating with “If you want to see women fighting, go watch women’s wrestling!” and presenting “our favorite sidekick” with a birthday cake. Not before leaving her not knowing what to say and the Thing surprised (“First time I’ve ever heard a woman say something like that!”). It was the time.

Marvel Unlimited DOWNLOAD

Sue Storm was gaining importance in the plots, especially as the focal point of the love triangle between Reed and Namor, but mostly as a comic counterpoint who always made references to cleaning or buying high-end dresses. Sue was a superheroine in a world of heroes where she could only be compared to The Wasp, Ant-Man’s sidekick. She could save the day from time to time, but not even the advancement of women’s rights could prevent that, once she gave birth to Franklin in 1968, no one at Marvel knew what to do with her.

The invisible woman

Sue became a housewife, a character who listened to others and who, at any given moment, could change the course of a battle with her force fields or her psionic rays, but it took John Byrne to turn everything upside down and give her the role she deserved in the Marvel Universe. Not as a mother or a wife, but as one of the most powerful women in the world.

The Invisible Girl became The Invisible Woman, her powers grew in intensity, she began to develop her own personality beyond Reed and Johnny… And finally, in Civil War, they decided to turn her into everything she was and more. Confronted in the superheroic battle, Sue ended up writing a letter to Reed where she made her intentions clear: “Johnny and I will be working underground from now on, and obviously there is no room for Franklin and Valeria. That’s why I’m leaving you to look after them and asking you to give them the time you’ve so often denied them in the past.” Boom.

Civil War may not have been the best comic book in the world, but it was, 45 years after its creation, the final awakening of a character who would never again wear an apron and keep quiet behind her husband. From the teenager obsessed with dresses to the independent woman, dozens of writers and cartoonists have shaped her over the years. The submissive Sue of the early 60s made sense in her context, but we live better knowing that the Invisible Woman was always the most fantastic of the four. Now it just remains to be seen if the next Marvel movie will be able to understand that.

From Stage to Screen: The Untold Story of MechaMew2

Welcome to an unforgettable journey: that of that Pokémon that was born and died, never to be rescued again, in the American musical based on the Japanese anime based on the Game Boy video game.

If you’re of an age and you’re humming “I’ll catch ’em all without exception”, I’m sure you can’t help but follow it up with “Get all the Pokémon“. But, although it may surprise you, the Pokérap, that song that listed the 151 creatures of the first generation, didn’t include all of them… Nor was it the only song made based on the anime. Welcome to an unforgettable journey: that of that Pokémon that was born and died, never to be rescued again, in the American musical based on the Japanese anime based on the Game Boy video game. There’s a lot to process here.

Get them all

September 22, 2000: the two Twin Towers were still looking down on a New York that had just entered the new millennium infected by a fad that many thought was passing: that of Pokémon. In this absolute crazy Pokemania of the 90s, Michael Slade, a scriptwriter of children’s plays and soap operas who had absolutely no idea who or what Pikachu was, saw the premiere of Pokémon Live!, an absolutely lysergic hour-and-a-half musical that would end up opening at Radio City Music Hall… And which was advertised as the only place to see a new Pokémon. It was true. That way.

The musical, and I can’t stress this enough, was official, even if the plot is the craziest thing you’ve ever heard: Giovanni, the head of Team Rocket, challenges all trainers to beat him in exchange for winning the new Diamond medal. But his goal is not to fight, but to make the new Pokémon he has created, capable of copying any move, become unstoppable. His name, MechaMew2.

If it doesn’t ring a bell, it’s perfectly logical: the creature has never left the stage to get into any kind of Nintendo product. The thing is, MechaMew2 only has two moves left to learn: Lightning and Thunder Impact, which, apparently, only Ash’s Pikachu knows. The thing is that the Paleta Town trainer loses and is about to die by a MechaMew2’s Hyper Lightning, but Mewtwo appears out of nowhere and saves him with a force field, showing, by the way, Ash’s happy memories to the bug. You’re not expecting the ending.

Well I’m dying

After learning what love is, MechaMew2 learns to talk, self-destructs in front of Giovanni and Ash, who does not hide his attraction for Misty (and vice versa: his is the song “I want to tell you what I feel, and tell you that I love you”), gives him the Diamond medal. How do you feel? The Pokémon Company didn’t want to know anything once the musical was released and only released a letter with his face inside the LCG… and unofficially.

The very Pokémon fans see their theories more or less rewarded during these 90 minutes, where it is discovered that Ash’s mother had a relationship with Giovanni when they were both teenagers, although he is not his father. Or is he. Who knows. The theory is still up in the air. The musical, which you can find at very low quality on YouTube, mixed songs from the two albums of the franchise with original tunes, and were sung by people… who were not well.

Andrew Rannells (Girls, The prom) played James, from Team Rocket, in the provincial tour, and more than once has stated that he regrets every day of his life, going so far as to say that he would rather have done snuff or porn. For his part, Michael Slade, the screenwriter, said that he only had six months to write the script while attending very long meetings where they discussed everything from Pikachu’s height to what he could do (or not) in the plot.

Apparently, no one stopped him in time when he said “Hey, I have an idea: How about the name MechaMew2?”. Get them all. Except one.

Meet Microsoft Loop: The Next Big Thing in Productivity That Could Replace Notion

Loop is like the evolved version of Google Docs: it is a collaborative work tool in which up to 50 people can act at the same time.

After the success of Notion, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft wanted to come up with its own version: conceptualized in the midst of the worst of the pandemic to streamline remote work, Loop has finally been released in a trial version so that we can familiarize ourselves with this new way of understanding teamwork, the different functions and the differentiation between environments. Not clear on what Loop is? Don’t worry: we’ll explain it to you.

Going round and round

Loop is like an evolved version of Google Docs: it is a collaborative work tool in which up to 50 people can work at the same time (although it is recommended for groups of between 2 and 12 people so as not to cause chaos). The best thing is that you can create as many different environments as you want… And divide them among the different groups.

Microsoft Loop DOWNLOAD

You could, for example, set up an environment for brainstorming with the creative team, another to make business decisions with the shareholders and another to see what meal you order on Friday with all the employees. Each one divided by users, but all in the same workspace, so you can switch between them with a simple click: you will have the possibility to manage as many projects as you can handle in the same space, with different people and in real time.

Some examples of things you can create in Loop with just two clicks: voting tables where you can add the pros and cons of each decision, track the progress of different areas, reward the best ideas with emojis, add multimedia material or, of course, write lists of all kinds. All this using Copilot, customized to your needs and totally free of charge. And the best part: this is just the beginning, and it will most likely grow even more by adding templates from outside Microsoft. The possibilities are endless.

The idea is that you have everything in one place, without the need to rummage through Google Drive or your files: in a single space you can find everything you need for your day-to-day life. Not only work documents, but also, for example, lists of your collections, travel plans or scripts for podcasts. All at the same time, in the same place.

Please note, however, that the app is not yet available on Android and iOS only via Test Flight until the trial period is over. In the meantime, all you need is a Microsoft account to start experiencing the future for yourself.

Canva vs Adobe: The battle heats up as Canva unveils new AI-powered features

Canva, at Canva’s Create 2023 event, has announced all kinds of new features especially useful for marketing and branding.

One day we’re going to come home and discover that our refrigerator has artificial intelligence. The world is changing at full speed and introducing AI into literally everything from video editing to programming. The latest to take the plunge has been Canva, which has announced an update full of little details that are going to make all the difference… And that should worry Adobe and its Photoshop.

More features, it’s war

Experts are already warning: it’s not that AI is going to replace your job, but that, in the future, you will be replaced if you don’t know how to work with the tools AI gives you. You can see it perfectly in the case of Canva, which at Canva’s Create 2023 event has announced all sorts of new functionalities especially useful for marketing and branding.

Canva DOWNLOAD

The idea is to form a simple way to create a unified visual identity in order to create images for social networks or presentations very quickly, leaving graphic designers to focus on more pressing issues. Using logos, fonts, colors and style guides, reusable templates can be formed and assets can be grouped for specific campaigns, projects and events.

Forget about those files that appear in Google Drive and you don’t know where they came from because they don’t match the rest of the brand image: in Canva you will be able to restrict them by colors and fonts. In addition, the different versions will become a single one and you can activate the workflow within the application itself. In other words: forget about whether the correct one is V2 or V2_OK_DEF, in Canva you will always have the latest one (and you will be able to review all the changes made).

Canva DOWNLOAD

There’s a lot more hidden inside the new Canva, like the Magic tools, which change a part of all your designs (an outdated logo, a color you no longer use, a layout) with just one click, or remove anything you don’t want in an image, from an unnecessary object to a dog in the background. In fact, by proxy, you can even change one object to another like magic.

Canva has said it has used a mix of different AI tools, wanting to become the ultimate app for making layouts, presentations and even international marketing campaigns. We’ll have to see what Adobe‘s next move is after this check on the king.

What happened to Rovio, the creators of Angry Birds

What happened to them? What happened to Rovio before and after Angry Birds?

If we make a list of the fifty most important video games in history, there would have to be Super Mario Bros or Call Of Duty, yes, but also Angry Birds, a mobile game that arrived three years before Candy Crush in a world where having the phone full of apps was still something grotesque and that turned a small studio in Finland into a money-making machine. But what happened to Rovio before and after Angry Birds?

Before the angry birds

Year 2003. Three technology students from the University of Helsinki participate in a mobile game development contest and manage to set up King of the Cabbage World, which would later be known as Mole War and helped them set up their own company, which they called, effectively, Relude. Or, as we all knew it after they changed the name to a better one, Rovio.

“Rovio” means “pyre” in Finnish, and that’s why its logo is a kind of flame that has not been extinguished for two decades now. And for six years they had to fight to stay in the market, either through mobile games based on licenses (Need for Speed: Carbon, X-Factor 2008) and other more or less original ones. The problem was that someone understood the potential of playing on a cell phone at a time when the word “app” meant nothing. To put it another way: what’s the point of making good games if there’s no one to play them?

And then, in 2007, the iPhone arrived and everything changed: mobile games were no longer difficult to access, the target was literally everyone, and Rovio saw their chance to, after 51 attempts, get a little piece of the market. They only had three rules for their last great game before bankruptcy, Square style: it didn’t need a tutorial, its loading times should be minimal and one minute of gameplay should be enough to have an optimal experience. Oh, and a flashy icon on the App Store wouldn’t hurt. Before losing everything, what’s the worst that could happen?

After several designs for a possible game, the management team was left with some angry birds that they found amusing. They found a reason for their anger (pigs had stolen their eggs) and spent 25,000 euros creating screens and their physics in their spare time. Six months later, Rovio had released four apps for other companies and had Angry Birds on the verge of success. And the proof that the game was addictive was that the mother of one of Rovio’s founders saw (well, smelled) her turkey burn on Thanksgiving because she was hooked on a trial version. All that was left to do was to throw it in a slingshot and see what happened. Success guaranteed… Or did it?

Angry birds

In December 2009, Rovio launched Angry Birds and it became, overnight… a bit of a flop. It didn’t take off in the United States or the United Kingdom, but it did in smaller markets. Little by little, between Finland, Greece, Sweden and Denmark, the game accumulated 40,000 downloads, enough to stay alive for a few more months. But in February 2010 everything changed. After Apple selected it as Game of the Week, it went from 600th to first place. And it would take quite a while to move from there.

Angry Birds DOWNLOAD

At first, the business was clear: the game cost money on iOS and was fed by ads on Android, but it gradually fell into the game of microtransactions. For example, for 89 cents an eagle that appeared in one of the updates could solve a level in which you were stuck and move on to the next: more than two million people used it. There were screens to pass, of course: although the first installment had only one chapter of 21 levels, at the end of its life it had almost five hundred. Almost nothing.

And then came the madness: Rovio put aside the rest of its projects to focus exclusively on Angry Birds. First came Angry Birds Seasons, in 2010, which was updated at different key moments of the year (Halloween, Christmas, the first day of school). Then, Angry Birds Rio, a crossover with the movie, of course, Rio. From then on, the madness.

After the angry birds

Crossovers with Star Wars and Transformers, racing games (Angry Birds Go!), RPGs (Angry Birds Epic), pinball (Angry Birds Action), tile-matching (Angry Birds Match), virtual reality… The saga has expanded to 28 games, two movies, 9 TV series and countless books. They even have theme park attractions! However, for some time now, longtime fans are not happy with them… And rightly so. It all goes back to the first game, before microtransactions were our everyday life.

And the fact is that Angry Birds has been removed from the app stores because -seriously- it overshadowed Rovio’s novelties. Just as it sounds. On iOS, Rovio Classics: Angry Birds, which costs 0.99 euros, has changed its name to Red’s First Flight, and on Android it has disappeared altogether. In fact, we can find Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Friends or Angry Birds Dream Blast, but no trace of the original.

Rovio has based its business model so much on micropayments that promise a falsely free game, that a game like the first Angry Birds, in which everything was paid from the beginning, could hurt them in the face of an audience that has lost, in a decade, quite a lot of interest in the franchise’s games. In addition, it cannot be said that what Rovio has done outside the saga has been successful: Selfie Slam, Retry (an attempt to capitalize on Flappy Bird) or Love Rocks Starring Shakira have not had enough pull to imagine a future for the company without slingshots, pigs and trying to milk the (red) golden bird.

Who is Tekashi 6ix9ine? A Deep Dive into the Rapper’s Controversial Career

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s biggest hit has already accumulated more than 800 million views on YouTube and has made Daniel Hernández a milestone for an entire generation.

“Drop it down and wobble, wobble up, mommy booted up”: if you’re under a certain age you’re probably already humming ‘Gooba’ in full. Tekashi 6ix9ine’s biggest hit already accumulates over 800 million views on YouTube and has made Daniel Hernandez a milestone for an entire generation. Now, after the terrible beating he has received in his gym, we analyze who he is, what he does and, above all, the reason for his controversies. You know that boy!

Haha, don’t care, stay mad

Little could Natividad and Daniel have imagined when they came to the United States from Mexico in 1988 that their son, born in 1996, would become one of the country’s biggest stars. But the rapper’s childhood was tragic: he barely knew his father, a heroin addict who ended up in prison for five years. His stepfather was murdered two steps from his home in 2010, and his mother, as a result, had no way to feed them, which led to the teenager taking all kinds of jobs to get by, dropping out of school.

This is not a story of a kid who rapped and then dressed according to his style, but the opposite: he dressed like a rapper and, as a consequence, the president of the record label Hikari-Ultra asked him if he rapped when he went to serve him in a warehouse in Brooklyn. From August 2014, Daniel Hernandez released different songs, such as ’69’, ‘Pimpin’ or ‘4769’ before defining his name: Tekashi 6ix9ine, mixing anime with sex.

In 2017, ‘Gummo’ marked his first commercial song, and an unparalleled success: he currently marks 429 million views on YouTube. He had not yet released an album (it would arrive in 2018, ‘Dummy boy’) and was already known around the world. And that has its advantages… And its drawbacks.

Desktop client for Shazam DOWNLOAD

Since 2018, Hernandez has known the courts better than home. There he has gone as a defendant charged with child molestation, drowning a teenage girl in a mall, ordering the shooting of rapper Chief Keef or domestic violence. But his best known case, and one that will mark him for the rest of his life, is the trial for the street gang he belonged to, the Nine Trey Gangsters, in which he faced 47 years in prison. The rapper was able to get it down to two years… in exchange for ratting out the rest of the gang.

After this decision, his life has been a trail of controversy: he served his time not in jail, but at home, due to his asthma and the slim chance of survival if he got sick with Covid. The consequences of being a police mole have not been long in coming and in 2023, coinciding with the anniversary of his last song, ‘Giné’ (which, moreover, was an advertisement for an energy drink), 6ix9ine has entered the hospital after a beating without the reason still being known. How will the rapper’s career continue? That’s still an unknown…

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, admitted to the emergency room after a brutal beating

The brutal beating that has been given to the rapper has occurred in his gym, LA Fitness. More specifically, in the sauna of the same.

Maybe if we talk about Daniel Hernandez you don’t know anything about him, but it will refresh your memory if we tell you that he is the real name of Tekashi 6ix9ine, one of the most controversial rappers of the international scene, who after appearing drunk during a Miami game and being kicked out of the stadium, has now starred in another brawl that has ended up in the ER.

When I talk, you better listen

The brutal beating of the rapper occurred at his gym, LA Fitness. More specifically, in the sauna of the same, where a group of men burst in, beating him to the cry of “Shut the fuck up!” while they hit him in the stomach and in the head, which 6ix9ine tried to protect himself.

Doctors had to treat him, as soon as he entered, for injuries to his jaw, ribs and back. It should be noted that just at that moment, the rapper was without his usual security team: after spending a couple of years in jail for his membership in the street gang Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, his success has been devastating, but it seems that he has gained powerful enemies.

And that’s because 6ix9ine sold out his former buddies to lessen his guilt, thus dropping him from decades to just a few years, but, as the lawyer warned him at the time, “he’ll always have to look over his shoulder.” There is no way of knowing if this attack had anything to do with selling out to the feds, but everything points to the fact that this movie-like situation will continue to keep him in the spotlight as Gooba, his biggest hit, already passes 827 million plays on YouTube. Innovative Robotics: Bender’s Great-Great-Grandfather? The First Robot with Eye Indicators

Agility Robotics has decided to take that headless bipedal contraption and put one with eyes on it, supposedly to improve human-robot interaction.

“Robot”, in its more classical Slavic variant, means “forced labor”. And, at the moment, robots, having no human feelings whatsoever, that’s exactly what they do for us. But rarely has the future hit us so head-on as with Digit, created in 2020 by Agility Robotics for Ford and tasked with packaging and distributing courier services. What no one imagined is that three years later, that robot would look almost human.

Kiss my shining metallic eyes

Agility Robotics has decided to take that headless bipedal contraption and put one with eyes on it to supposedly improve human-robot interaction. Digit is created to improve operations in company warehouses, and to avoid collisions of any kind, the eyes will now serve as the lights of a car, and will show when it is about to turn and to which location.

You may be afraid that robots, especially as artificial intelligence becomes more and more latent, will take away human jobs, but Jonathan Hurst, co-founder of Agility Robotics, thinks otherwise: “When people and robots work together in logistics operations, working conditions improve for people, warehouse efficiency improves, the distribution chain moves better. Everybody wins.

At the moment, Digit’s activities are not very varied. It can walk, jump and crouch, but its main function is to pick up and put down different types of objects up to 15 kilograms. One can only imagine that, in the future, with the technological advancement of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence mechanisms, Digit could become just another companion to chat with. And then we will have reached the ultimate science fiction.
