Keanu Reeves is in Cyberpunk 2077! This is not a drill!

Keanu Reeves has made the already promising Cyberpunk 2077 even more promising!

Keanu cyberpunk

God help anyone if they hurt his dog…

After proving time and time again that he is one of the greatest action movie stars of our time, Keanu Reeves is finally bringing his talents back to the world of video games.

Audience members finally got to see the next trailer for Cyberpunk 2077. They were shocked to see a man with a robotic arm walk onto the screen, drop the f-bomb, and then take off his shades revealing that Reeves was part of the project.

It has been about 14 years since we last got to see Reeves in a video game. He’s certainly come a long way since he was crouching around cubicles.

Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the futuristic city of Night City. There, you play as a criminal with enhanced cybernetic abilities. The city is as stunning as it is dangerous. At one moment you can be enjoying the stellar nightlife, and at the next, you’ll be part of a massive shootout.

Maybe the only thing in the trailer more enticing than Reeves was the release date. Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out on April 16, 2020.

We do not know for certain what role Reeves will be playing in the game, but we have a few clues. Given his tactical vest, we assume he was some sort of military background. He also knows the main character, so we are guessing he will give us most of the tutorial missions and main story missions.

Since Reeves appeared onstage, Twitter has been abuzz with fans going wild for Reeves.

Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t look like a game as much as it looks like an experience. The massive open world looks absolutely captivating, and the multilayered story promises different possibilities on multiple playthroughs.

We are beyond excited to get ahold of this game. We were psyched for Cyberpunk 2077 before we even knew Reeves was going to be in it. Now that we know that he is, we are ecstatic.

I mean c’mon. If you wanted someone to guide you along your journey, wouldn’t YOU want it to be John Wick/Neo/Theodore Logan?

Best programs to create your indie game

Want to make the next Undertale? These programs can help you!

Game Design

Over the past decade, indie games have really taken off as viable alternatives to AAA blockbuster games. They are often smaller projects that focus on finely tuned, specific gameplay mechanics. This has led to excellent games such as Superhot, Hotline Miami, and Celeste.

7

Games like Undertale and Braid have shown that some of the most beautiful, gut-wrenching stories in gaming can come out of small indie teams. Platforms like Steam, the Nintendo eShop, and the App Store/Google Play Store have been filled with hundreds of excellent indie titles. These games feature innovative mechanics and creative storytelling.

We live in a golden age of indie gaming, and if you’re feeling inspired to create your own, here are a few programs that can help get you started:

Best programs to make indie games

Unity

unity indie game development

Nearly every indie game dev will tell you that the best program to make indie games on is Unity. An industry staple for years, Unity is one of the most feature-complete and widely used game development programs out there.

Unity offers both free and premium versions, with the free version being feature-complete. There is support for iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and more. You should have no problem porting your game to your platform(s) of choice.

Unity uses Javascript or C# for scripting instead of a proprietary language, allowing programmers to transfer over their skills in those common languages. The incredible robustness of Unity allows for users to create both 3D and 2D games, with plenty of powerful tools for both kinds of games. You can preview your games within the editor, which saves enormous amounts of time and headaches. This is because you don’t need to compile and run the game every time you want to test something.

Perhaps the greatest strength of Unity is the huge online community surrounding it. There is an expansive asset store that allows artistically-challenged developers to create games with pre-made assets. Also, there are thousands of online tutorials, videos, and forum posts made by community members that cover pretty much any topic that could possibly pop up.

The number of games made using Unity nowadays would be too much to list, and the software isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Game Maker Studio 2

game maker studio 2 indie dev

Made for 2D game development, Game Maker Studio 2 is both powerful and easy to use. Like Unity, there is a feature-complete free version, though you must pay to publish your game on different platforms.

Game Maker Studio 2 is unique in that you do not need any coding experience to make your game. Though you can code traditionally in GMS2 (using the program’s proprietary language), the program also includes a drag and drop feature. This feature helps you visualize and simplify coding without sacrificing any of the depth. This drag and drop system makes Game Maker Studio 2 the program of choice for programming beginners, as it allows users to learn as they go along. Like Unity, GMS2 has an asset store that has premade game engines, features, and artistic assets.

The ease of use and versatility of Game Maker Studio 2 is unmatched when it comes to 2D games. Some of the most popular indie games ever, like Hotline Miami and Undertale, were made using the software.

Like Game Maker Studio 2, it doesn’t require any coding knowledge. MV uses a tile-based interface that allows users to draw locations and tilesets directly into the game world. Users can create turn-based battles that harken back to the golden age of JRPGs.

While the editor may look simple, there are hundreds of fan-made scripts available that you can add to enhance your game. Want to add a Paper Mario-style Action Command system? You can do that. Want to add a Fire Emblem style tactical map? You can do that too. You can even make your game an overhead action RPG like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. For a program designed to make JRPGs, RPG Maker MV is surprisingly versatile.

The program is available on Steam for the hefty price of $80, though sales are frequent. Fortunately, you can download a free demo directly from the RPG Maker website, or from us:

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic movie in the works

It’s happening! It’s really happening!!!

Star Wars KOTORDisney is working on a movie derived from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, according to a report from Buzzfeed.

The movie is being written by Laeta Kalogridis. She’s known for writing good movies like “Shutter Island” as well as stinkers like “Terminator: Genisys.”

What is Knights of the Old Republic?

For those that do not know, Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) is the holy grail of Star Wars video games. In 2004, it won Game of the Year from the Game Developer’s Choice Awards.

It’s an action RPG with turn-based combat. The game takes place thousands of years before the events of “Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.” In it, you play as Darth Revan, a Sith lord who has had his memory wiped by the Jedi. It is up to you to decide whether or not to join the light side, or go back to your roots on the dark side.

Along the way, you are confronted by Darth Malak, Revan’s old apprentice who betrays his master to become the new Sith lord.

From the story to the gameplay, it is one of the best video games ever created, let alone one of the best Star Wars games.

We’re excited but cautious

When it comes to Disney’s Star Wars side movies, they’re batting .500.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” was okay, but “Solo: A Star Wars Story” was extremely forgettable.

To be fair, we wanted to see Rogue One’s story, but nobody really wanted a standalone Han Solo flick. If Disney holds true to the story with the KOTOR film, we’ll be excited, but we are going to need a good cast to make this really work.

(Hey Disney, you should totally cast Michael Fassbender as Revan. Just saying!)

Fans have been wanting a KOTOR movie since the game came out in 2003. Since Disney bought Star Wars, fans have wanted more movies that show the history of the Jedi and Sith. This could potentially be the best of both worlds, but we will have to wait and see.

How to play The Sims 4 for free (legally!)

For a limited time only, you can get yourself a free copy of The Sims 4.

The Sims 4

The Sims is a franchise that shows us our true colors.

Some of us can play through the game as normally as possible. Some of us need to kill NPCs and steal their money. Some of us need to create art goblins that live in the basement and paint all day. Seriously, that happens:

‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ trailer is so horrifying that Sonic is being redesigned

Grab a crucifix and a barf bag: the “Sonic the Hedgehog” trailer is here.

Sonic

This trailer makes the Super Mario Bros. movie look like “Citizen Kane:”

Paramount Pictures released the trailer for the upcoming live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which is set to come out in November. We have consulted several religious texts, and although this is not technically a sign of the apocalypse, we recommend you stay on guard.

So bad it’s being redesigned

Sonic redesign
Source: @LarryBundyJr

The film is being directed by Jeff Fowler. Fowler only has a single other directing credit to his name on IMDb, an animated short about a gopher stealing produce.

After the trailer dropped and the viewers vomited on their screens, Fowler took to Twitter to give us some hope.

That’s right, Sonic is being redesigned.

Sonic looks bad, but the trailer has other issues which we will talk about below. At this point, we’re not sure if we want a better-looking Sonic or for the project to be scrapped altogether.

The trailer itself

The trailer gives us our first official look at the live-action blue hedgehog. He’s blue, he has spiky hair, and he has red shoes just like Sonic does in the video games. However, he is also uncomfortably lanky, and looks like what you’d get if a Furby mated with an alien from “Avatar.”

(function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(d.getElementById(id))return;js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=’https://embed.playbuzz.com/sdk.js’;fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}(document,’script’,’playbuzz-sdk’));

The trailer is set to “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio. The song does not fit at all and just makes the trailer all the more awkward. It’s like playing “Mambo No. 5” at your grandma’s funeral. Think back to past Sonic titles like “Sonic Adventure 2 Battle” and “Sonic Heroes.” The songs that pop out are all high energy songs like “City Escape.” Basically, if you’re going to put a rap song in a Sonic trailer, it’d better be “Pumpkin Hill.”

The film stars James Marsden as a cop named Tom Wachowski. Wachowski stumbles across Sonic, and together they team up to stop Dr. Robotnik played by Jim Carrey. Sonic is voiced by Ben Schwartz. You might remember him as Jean-Ralphio from “Parks and Recreation.” How would Jean-Ralphio describe this trailer?

The trailer ends with our first look at Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. Viewers in the comments section seem to agree that his performance looks like the only redeeming quality.

Jim Carrey Robotnik

Carrey doesn’t have the same portly physique we expect of Dr. Robotnik, but he does have some of the same quirky mannerisms. He is very full of himself and hellbent on thwarting the dastardly hedgehog.

In summary

To put it bluntly, you can skip this movie. Carrey might get a laugh or two, but if the trailer is anything like the movie, the tone looks completely off. You have better ways to spend your time than seeing “Sonic.” Go outside, read a book, or play an old, classic Sonic game. Heck, take a page from Sonic’s book and go for a run. Above all else, avoid this film at all costs.

5 worst video game movies of all time

Video games and movies have rarely every mixed, but what are the worst of the worst?

Sonic movie

If that trailer for “Sonic the Hedgehog” proved anything, it’s that video games should not be adapted into movies.

Throughout the ages, only a handful have been decent. The Tomb Raider movies have their moments, and the first Mortal Kombat film was awesome.

However, for every good one we got, we had a dozen stinkers. For this list, we decided to give you the worst of the worst. In order to qualify, the movie has to be based on the game and not a different interpretation. For example, the animated Pokémon movies are based on the anime, not the game.

Top 5 worst video game movies

5. Warcraft

WarcraftSome hardcore fans do like this movie, but general audiences agreed that it’s pretty awful.

The CGI and make-up aren’t bad, but the film falls apart in every other aspect. The acting is beyond hokey. The story is both predictable and boring. Even the action scenes are bland. The film is about two hours long, but it feels like an eternity.

A video game series like World of Warcraft has such potential for a film adaptation, but this film misses the mark at every turn.

4. Double Dragon

Double Dragon

The Double Dragon games have a very simple concept. Billy and Jimmy Lee are brothers who use their kung-fu fighting skills to rescue Billy’s girlfriend while fighting off a Chinese gang.

In the game, Billy and Jimmy are both big, muscular dudes who look like American Gladiators. However, in the movie, we got two scrawny guys who just look in over their heads. The main theme of rescuing Billy’s girlfriend is thrown out the window for a new story about collecting a medallion.

If you’re a fan of the games, spin-kick this movie far, far away.

3. Doom

DoomThis movie was so bad even The Rock poked fun at it years later:

Good lord, Dwayne Johnson wasn’t even in a lot of this movie and he still feels the need to talk about how awful it was.

Doom is a video game series about fighting demon-spawn from Hell in outer space. How do you screw that up?

This movie is DARK. We don’t mean dark in tone, we mean it’s literally hard to see anything in this movie. The DC Cinematic Universe has nothing on how dark and lifeless this movie is.

The major flaw with the movie is the threat. Rather than fighting demons from Hell, the heroes fight failed genetic experiments. All of the things that made the original Doom cool and edgy are thrown out the window. The only thing the movie has to do with the games is the title. Call this movie “Space Station Survival,” and nobody would know it had anything to do with Doom.

2. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

Mortal Kombat Annihilation

Holy smokes, this was bad.

The first Mortal Kombat movie wasn’t exactly “Citizen Kane,” but it got the job done. The action is cool. The story is simple but easy to follow. It is hammy in all the best ways. Also, it has Robin Shou as Liu Kang! How could you go wrong with Robin Shou?

“Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.” That’s how.

The acting in this movie is absolutely atrocious. Kids in high school theater would’ve given a bigger effort than these guys. I mean just watch this scene:

A director watched that and said, “Yeah, that was great. Let’s use that take.”

Unfortunately, we cannot perform a fatality on this movie. If you want to watch a fun Mortal Kombat movie, watch the first movie. It gets a flawless victory against this dumpster fire every time.

Need more evidence? Here you go:

1. Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros. movieHow bad is this movie? Let’s see what Bob Hoskins, the actor who played Mario, had to say:

“The worst thing I ever did? ‘Super Mario Bros.’ It was a f***in’ nightmare. The whole experience was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife team directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent. After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set! F***in’ nightmare. F***in’ idiots.”

See if you can endure this:

Even John Leguizamo who played Luigi doesn’t have anything kind to say about the movie:

Why is the movie bad? Where do we even start?

The story has nothing to do with Mario. The movie takes place in an alternate timeline version the real world rather than the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser is human. Goombas are big, tall guys with tiny heads. Clearly, the only mushrooms that went into making this movie were the ones the writers took.

Hopefully, the upcoming animated Super Mario movie will be better.

Is there any hope?

Even though the Sonic movie looks awful, we have our hopes up for “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.”

That movie looks like it might have decent CGI, a fun story, and hilarious acting from Ryan Reynolds.

Did we miss any other disasters? Let us know in the comments below!

Capcom mini console brings the arcade into your living room

The Capcom Home Arcade Machine comes loaded with 16 classic Capcom games.

Capcom Home Arcade

Ever since Nintendo released the NES Classic Mini, a nostalgic ripple has spread throughout the games industry. We’ve since seen classic mini-consoles come out from almost all the major players from Atari to Sony. Some have been excellent, spurring budding DIY enthusiasts to build their own, while others like the PlayStation mini haven’t really caught the public’s imagination.

Now, a new retro console has been announced. This one, however, is a little different to the mini consoles we’ve become accustomed to. Capcom is entering the fray with its Capcom Home Arcade machine.

The Capcom Home Arcade Machine is housed in a dual joystick arcade machine setup and comes loaded with 16 classic Capcom games

Capcom’s foray into the mini-console market immediately stands out from the rest due to the size of the thing. OK, technically it is still a mini console if you’re comparing it to an arcade machine, but it dwarfs all other mini-consoles, coming it at 74 cm in length and 22 cm wide. As the tagline “Play, Compete, Cooperate” makes out, the machine is built for multiplayer use and these dimensions ensure two players will be able to stand side-by-side without bothering each other’s play.

The new Capcom home arcade machine

This all makes sense when you consider that Capcom is trying to recreate the days spent down the arcade playing games on your feet. All the mini-Capcom needs to tap into those days is power via USB and an HDMI cable running into a TV. With larger HD screens being the norm these days, this could create an arcade-like experience on a much bigger screen than the games were originally played on.

Capcom is behind some stellar arcade games like Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting and Megaman: The Power Battle. Both come loaded on the mini-Capcom alongside 14 other titles spanning various different gaming genres. You can see the full list of all included games below:

List of games for the capcom home arcade

The mini-Capcom also sports onboard Wi-Fi so your high scores will go directly into a “Worldwide High Score Leaderboard.” This means even if you can’t find anybody to play against at home you can still go up against players from around the world.

All of this makes the Capcom Home Arcade Machine a very attractive prospect. The only downside is the price and availability of the thing. The Capcom website says the machine will be available in Europe on October 25 and will cost around €230 (about $260), which it puts it in a considerably higher price bracket than other mini-retro consoles. On top of that, it is currently only available for pre-order via the Capcom website, although Capcom says other retailers will come on board soon, and as yet there is no news of a North American release date.

PlayStation announces preorder refund plan

PlayStation allows users to get a refund prior to downloading games in PlayStation Store.

Playing Playstation

Sony announced a change to its existing refund policy for digital content purchased on the PlayStation Store. Think of it as buyer’s remorse insurance.

Sony will refund you within 14 days of sale for games and DLC as long as you haven’t downloaded or installed them. The funds are added back to your PlayStation Wallet regardless of payment method.

If you download or install a game and the game is not working, you can receive a full download.

If you preorder a game, you can “return” the game any day leading up to the release date. You can return it for a refund as long as you did not download or install it. Essentially, you can’t return a game because you found out it sucks after downloading it. However, if you find out a game sucks before downloading it, you can return it.

If you buy a membership for a subscription service like Spotify Premium or PlayStation Now, you can also get your money back within 14 days. If you already started using the subscription service, you will be refunded for the amount of time you have not used.

You will be prompted to a customer service screen if you request a refund. Then file your claim through customer service. Once the request is processed, you can get your refund.

Sony does not offer refunds for PlayStation Vue subscriptions or for changing your online ID for PlayStation Network.

RIP Machinima

An early internet video pioneer meets a painful end.

If you were a gamer in the past 10 years, you already know what Machinima was. We say “was” because as of February 1, the company has officially announced that 81 of their employees were laid off and all remaining operations ceased. “A select number of Machinima employees remain with the company, which is now actively providing services to supercharge the combined portfolio of Otter Media,” said Machinima. “Machinima has ceased its remaining operations, which includes layoffs. Russell Arons still remains with Machinima, and is assisting with transitional activities as she explores new opportunities.”

While this may simply sound like another company lay-off to some, for many YouTube fans the news hit pretty hard.

What was Machinima?

Founded in January 2000 by Hugh Hancock, the Los Angeles-based Machinima fused video entertainment with video games before it was cool. Manipulating video game technology to create animations, Machinima created memorable, funny, gaming-themed live-action content, and was a cornerstone of YouTube culture since the website’s earliest days.

Halo characters, Red vs Blue
Rooster Teeth’s Red vs Blue is a great example of the ‘Machinima’ technique.

Home to some of the most famous web series including Inside Gaming, ETC News, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, Arby n’ the Chief, and Two Best Friends Play, Machinima was to gaming videos as Twitch is to game streaming today. The company was so big in 2012 that it even earned the attention of Google, who invested $35 million into the company in hopes that it would turn its attention toward larger audiences and one day dominate television.

What happened to Machinima?

On January 18, all of the channel’s content was abruptly set to private before being removed days later. The sad news quickly hit social media, with hurt fans and creators sharing the information, donning the melancholy hashtag #RIPMachinima.

Machinima channel deactivated
This used to be a hub of gaming fan videos

The news has hit consumers of gaming content hard, but the creators have been hit harder still, suddenly finding all their published work inaccessible by the public.

“Warner, at this point, cannot verify the copyrights to all videos in Machinima’s network, and there are a ton of videos,” said FunhausTeam producer and Inside Gaming’s Lawrence Sonntag in a recent Twitch clip. “It’d cost a lot of money to do it, and this is on videos that aren’t getting any views. So, they cut it loose. That’s that. It’s a business. That’s how it goes, man.”

So now what?

Back in December 2018, AT&T moved Machinima under their Otter Media brand. Otter Media is a is an American digital branding and media company that owns Crunchyroll, VRV, Fullscreen, Gunpowder & Sky, Hello Sunshine, and Rooster Teeth. The restructuring also saw layoffs across Otter Media, with creators either let go or sent letters informing them they were being moved to Fullscreen, yet another media company founded in 2011, owned by – you guessed it – Otter Media.

Here’s the letter they sent:

So technically Fullscreen has acquired Machinima, and they’re working under the big corporate umbrella of Otter Media. The news is disheartening to many Machinima fans, and it feels like the end of an era; one of the old YouTube giants is gone.

Were you a Machinima fan? Let us know in the comments below, and if you had a favorite creator on the channel. Until then, we’ll see you online … but it’s a sadder internet for sure.

5 video games that have actually killed people

Discover the weird, terrifying ways some players have died because of video games.

Though gaming may seem like a pretty safe hobby, the reality is that playing video games can be seriously dangerous and detrimental to your health… and sometimes, even fatal. Hard as it may seem to believe, cases exist from all corners of the globe detailing gamers who have died while playing video games. The question is… what games could possibly be capable of killing their players? Here’s our list of some of the world’s most dangerous games.

The 5 deadliest games

5. Berzerk

berzerk arcade game

The first recorded case of a video-game related death dates back to the 1980s. Jeff Dailey, a 19-year-old gamer, hoped to make history by posting a high score in the arcade game Berzerk. Berzerk involved players controlling a human character, guiding their avatar through a maze-like arena while dodging incoming laser fire from opposing aliens. After a marathon session at his local arcade, Dailey posted a high score of 16,660 points immediately before suffering a fatal heart attack.

This story doesn’t end with Dailey, however. The very next year, gamer Peter Burkowski died in almost the exact same way, succumbing to a heart attack after making the high score list. Rumors still persist that some kind of curse hangs over Berzerk, but it seems more likely that the combination of the high-intensity game and marathon sessions led to the demise of the two teens.

4. World of Tanks

world of tanks

Twitch streamers are known for going to ridiculous lengths to attract viewers to their stream, such as the Fortnite streamer who recently dabbed for 10 straight hours. In 2017, World of Tanks player Brian Vigneault, also known by the username Poshybrid, had planned a similar marathon stream. His goal was to stream the game for 24 uninterrupted hours as part of an effort to raise money for the Make-a-Wish foundation.

Unfortunately, Vigneault only made it to hour 22. At around 3:30 on February 19th, Vigneault took a quick smoke break and never returned to the stream. Though most viewers assumed that Vigneault had simply drifted off, a friend who attempted to contact him later via Discord was informed by a detective that Vigneault had tragically collapsed and died.

3. Wii Fit

wii fit

It seems somewhat ironic that a game designed for fitness could be fatal, but that’s exactly what it was in the case of 25-year-old Tim Eves. According to friends and family, Eves was the picture of health, working as a scout leader and moonlighting as the drummer for a local rock band. Eves had recently returned to England from a trip to Portugal to celebrate his mother’s birthday. While hanging out with his girlfriend, Eves decided to get in a workout using WiiFit. As his girlfriend looked on, Eves collapsed during a jogging session and was later pronounced dead. His official cause of death remains uncertain, but his otherwise excellent health has led some to suspect Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.

Unfortunately, Eves isn’t the only person to have been killed by a Wii. As part of a contest held by a local radio station, San Francisco resident Jennifer Strange died after drinking and holding two gallons of water, hoping to win one of the consoles. She died due to water intoxication, and the station was slapped with a whopping fine of $16 million.

2. Halo

halo 3

Halo is a classic franchise with die-hard fans, although a few have taken their passion for the sci-fi shooter too far. In 2007, teenager Daniel Petric attempted to murder his parents after they took away his copy of Halo 3. After his parents banned him from playing the game, he managed to access his father’s gun safe. Retrieving a handgun, he shot both of his parents in the head. Though his father survived, his mother tragically died, and Petric himself is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence.

In 2011, gamer Chris Staniforth was known among friends for his Halo fanaticism. He reportedly engaged in marathon sessions that would last 12 hours or more multiple times per week. Unfortunately, these lengthy sedentary periods led a blood clot to develop in his legs. The clot eventually came loose and traveled to his lungs, leading to Staniforth’s sudden and regrettable death.

1. Starcraft

starcraft

It goes without saying that Starcraft can be incredibly addictive, with sessions potentially lasting for hours at a time. Some people, unfortunately, don’t know when to call it quits, and Starcraft addiction has been the cause of more than one fatality.

The case of Lee Seung Seop is perhaps one of the more famous instances of a gaming-related death, garnering global publicity when the story first broke in 2005. After quitting his job and breaking up with his girlfriend, Seop went to an internet cafe in South Korea, where he began his marathon Starcraft session. He played from Wednesday straight through to Friday evening, reportedly barely eating and drinking and only standing to use the restroom. On Friday, after friends begged him to return home, Seop suddenly collapsed in his chair. His death was later attributed to a combination of exhaustion and malnutrition.

In China, a man died under similar circumstances, eventually passing away after playing Starcraft for an unbelievable 27 straight days. In similar fashion to Seop, the man reportedly subsisted solely on a diet of Ramen Noodles and barely left his chair over the course of the lengthy session.

Compared to other hobbies like extreme sports, playing video games is a relatively safe pastime. Like most other things, however, games should be enjoyed responsibly. While it may be tempting to lose yourself in the virtual world, proper diet and exercise are necessary to avoid meeting a tragic and avoidable end.
