As the second season of Fallout draws new fans to New Vegas, all eyes are on Bethesda and the anticipation for a possible new release in the franchise, Fallout 5. However, information about this highly anticipated title is scarce, and the developers at Bethesda have shared little of their hopes for the future of the series.
Nuclear Fall
Emil Pagliarulo, design director of the studio, expressed his desire to create a game that reaches the success of previous installments and offers players a deep experience with an immersive narrative. “I would like it to be a game that is not limited to 20 or 100 hours, but provides the opportunity to play for 200, 300, or even 600 hours, because that’s the kind of games we make”, Pagliarulo commented. This approach aligns with Bethesda’s tradition, which has been synonymous with extensive hours of gameplay.
The previous Fallout games, such as Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4, have set high expectations due to their vast open worlds, where players can spend countless hours on side quests without even touching the main narrative. This vastness is something that Fallout 5 will have to meet if it aims to satisfy its fan base.
Pagliarulo also highlighted the importance of integrating quality of life updates, based on what players may not know is missing. For example, in the remastering of Oblivion, the option to sprint was included, an element that was not present in the original game. “The industry has advanced, so we also want to advance with it”, he added.
Moreover, developers have learned that there is no single definition of RPG, a crucial lesson learned during the development period between Fallout 4 and Starfield. As fans eagerly await more news about Fallout 5, this seems to be an exciting time to be a franchise enthusiast.
In the video game industry, there are many legendary franchises, but not so many that have managed to establish themselves over the decades. Many have a couple of decades at most, and the longest-lasting ones tend to be Japanese. This is logical considering that the Japanese market has never faced the cataclysmic problems that the American market has and has managed to have much greater prominence than the much more fragmented European market. In the video game industry, there are many legendary franchises, but not so many that have managed to establish themselves over the decades. Many have a couple of decades at most, and the longest-lasting ones tend to be Japanese. This is logical considering that the Japanese market has never faced the catastrophic problems that the American market has and has managed to have much greater prominence than the European market, which is much more fragmented.
This does not mean that there are no great franchises in the West. And one of them has become the latest big sensation in pop culture. Thanks to an excellent first season of its series, Fallout is now on everyone’s lips. Something that does not seem to be changing with its second season.
The Fallout series places us in the year 2296 after the Great War of 2077 led to a massive nuclear exchange between the US and China. After two hundred years in bunkers, the survivors of the catastrophe began to emerge from their Vaults little by little after several generations living there. Some by their own choice, others because they had no other option. In the case of Lucy MacLean, a young inhabitant of Vault 33, her situation is the latter. After raiders from the Wasteland kidnap her father, she will have to leave the safety of the Vault to venture into the inhospitable thermonuclear desert of the future.
Only to discover that it is less inhospitable than I expected. In the more than 200 years since the war, a new society has been created in the desert, many humans have mutated into scavengers and literal mutants, and the retrofuturistic technology of this alternative world continues, to some extent, to function. With The Wasteland having its own technology and factions fighting against each other, Lucy soon discovers that it will not be easy to find her father not because everything there is empty and full of dangers, but because it is full of people and full of dangers.
That is its premise and why its first season worked well. It is plausible, it is funny, and moreover, it has no problem subverting our expectations. The people who join Lucy, the peculiar squire Maximus, and the even more peculiar bounty hunter Cooper, are authentic characters, and besides, it is exactly what Fallout has always been: a franchise about the absurdity of humanity.
Some video games that have always been about the same thing
Fallout was created by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarski in 1997 at Interplay. Being an immediate success, particularly in Europe, it presented us with a USA devastated by nuclear war, obsessed with its own past, and with an incomprehensible retro futurism. Thanks to its success, just a year later, they released Fallout 2, and in 2001, a spinoff, the underrated Fallout Tactics.
Unfortunately, the studio did not survive the ups and downs of the market. With RPGs becoming less popular in an era that prioritized elaborate graphics over the quality and depth of stories, they watched as the franchise fell into oblivion. Although not for very long. A company called Bethesda bought the rights to the franchise in 2004 for $1,175,000. A deal that, to this day, seems like a very wise purchase.
In 2008, the studio released Fallout 3 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. It wasn’t as deep and systemic as the original games and no longer had the same dark and depressing sense of humor, but it was much more agile, easy to play, and above all, it had spectacular graphics for the time. It is also true that it had an obscene amount of bugs, but that didn’t stop the public from acclaiming it: it was great. At least, until a studio formed by former Interplay employees decided to make their own version. And to show that Bethesda had barely scratched the surface.
In 2010, and publishing for the same platforms, Obsidian Entertainment released Fallout: New Vegas. Considered by most fans to be the best Fallout to date, it has the gameplay simplicity of Fallout 3 and its spectacular graphics, but recaptures the humor and depth of the original games. Its only problem being that it is one of the most broken games in video game history. Released to the market filled with bugs, it received harsh criticism because, at times, it could be unplayable. Even if, over time, it has proven to be one of the greatest cult games in video game history.
Fallout has never reached the levels of respect and celebration that New Vegas achieved. Something that has never sat well with Bethesda and particularly with its head, Todd Howard. That is why Obsidian has never had the opportunity to work on another installment of the franchise.
More Fallout for everyone (and the series in New Vegas)
After the success of New Vegas, it would take them 5 years to return to the franchise, but they would do so with a tremendously divisive game: Fallout 4. Visually spectacular, but with a marked division of opinions between those who think it is the weakest entry in the franchise and those who believe it simply does not have as strong writing as previous entries, it would integrate many more systemic elements in the style of Bethesda’s other flagship series, The Elder Scrolls. Allowing players to build houses and inhabit The Wasteland, that would be its main selling point. Making you feel like you were truly living in the post-apocalypse.
Something they would take even further with their latest release to date. Fallout 76, released in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, was an absolute disaster at launch. Broken everywhere, nonsensical in its design, and with nothing to do, it was universally hated by critics and fans alike. But at Bethesda, they took the task of fixing it seriously. So much so that, over the years, it has become a highly regarded and beloved MMORPG, continuously expanding, celebrated as an excellent gateway into the Fallout universe.
Meanwhile, the series continues to draw inspiration particularly from the main installments of the franchise. While the first season seems to generally draw from the tone of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, rather than the originals or the more recent ones, this second season explicitly takes place in New Vegas, the setting of Fallout New Vegas. Demonstrating that they know exactly what the franchise’s strong point is.
In any case, Todd Howard has already said that this is just a stop along the way. His wish for the Fallout series is that it focuses on the future in the events of Fallout 76, even if it chronologically does not fit with the series as Fallout 76 takes place in 2102 and the series in 2296, 15 and 9 years after Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 respectively.
In any case, it seems that we have Fallout for a while longer. And whatever the series and the franchise have in store for us, what is clear is that Bethesda knows that what they have in hand has reached a broader audience. And they don’t want to let it slip away.

According to its creators, Misery Island will transport players to a fictional archipelago off the coast of Salem, inspired by two real islands in New England. What used to be a serene vacation destination has transformed into a devastated territory, perfectly fitting the dark tone of the Fallout 4 world.
Misery Island stands out not only for its atmosphere but also for the amount of content it offers: more than 20 new locations, two new settlements, weapons, armor, clothing, and unique items. It also features a new radio station and a system that will allow players to restore the ruins of the island. To add a touch of nostalgia, classic Fallout mechanics have been revived, such as skill checks and weapon schematics, all accompanied by missions specifically designed for this expansion.
To access Misery Island, it is necessary to have the Far Harbor DLC installed. Once players install the mod and start the game, they will automatically receive a mission upon reaching level 25, although they can also travel directly to the island from an abandoned plane north of the Boston airport. This expansion represents the second chapter of the project by Tenhats and Shreddah4, who had already impressed with their previous work on Boon Island.
Bethesda’s director, Todd Howard, recently confirmed that the development of The Elder Scrolls VI is still ongoing, although he asked fans for patience, emphasizing that the game is still “a long way off.” This statement has sparked an increase in speculation about the progress of the highly anticipated title since its announcement in 2018 during E3, where a brief trailer was shown that generated great excitement among franchise followers. The director of Bethesda, Todd Howard, recently confirmed that the development of The Elder Scrolls VI is still ongoing, although he asked fans for patience, emphasizing that the game is still “very far away.” This statement has sparked an increase in speculation about the progress of the highly anticipated title since its announcement in 2018 during E3, where a brief trailer was shown that generated great excitement among the franchise’s followers.
We are not going to see her soon
The announcement of Elder Scrolls VI was part of a broader strategy by Bethesda to showcase its future projects, including Starfield, which has been the studio’s main focus in recent years. Howard emphasized that this announcement was made early to clarify that the sequel to Skyrim was in development, but its release would only occur after Starfield.
After Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda, in a deal valued at $7.5 billion, the value that the company places on its most iconic franchises, such as Elder Scrolls and Fallout, is highlighted. However, it has been revealed that ZeniMax was overvalued at $10.5 billion, 29% more than what Microsoft paid, indicating a valuation strategy focused on its game catalog.
Despite the criticism for the lack of concrete information about Elder Scrolls VI, the initial announcement achieved its goal of attracting interest and potential buyers before the acquisition. Expectations and speculation continue to grow around a title that could once again redefine the role-playing game genre, although its release is not expected in the short term.
Players of The Outer Worlds 2 have encountered an unexpected obstacle in their attempt to approach the game from a pacifist perspective. Players of The Outer Worlds 2 have encountered an unexpected obstacle in their attempt to approach the game from a pacifist perspective. While the original title allowed players to complete the adventure without causing deaths, the new chapter seems to have included a main mission that limits this possibility. According to a user identified as Towrads in a Reddit post, the difficulty of maintaining a non-violent approach becomes evident in a crucial mission of the game, where it is imperative to eliminate two snipers to progress in the story.
Not killing anyone is complicated
The central feature of The Outer Worlds 2 is its flexibility, allowing players to experience the adventure as they see fit, including pacifist options. Although the developers at Obsidian Entertainment built upon a legacy that enabled this style of play, new challenges have left enthusiasts searching for solutions. Some players have attempted creative maneuvers, such as provoking enemies to damage each other, but so far, these efforts have not achieved the desired outcome due to the ineffectiveness of their tactics.
The mission in question requires the elimination of enemies with no viable alternatives. While some mechs on the scene can be disabled without bloodshed, the situation becomes complicated with the presence of snipers, who must be eliminated to progress. The lack of alternative routes and the complete failure of non-lethal tactics have sparked a conversation within the community about the need for adjustments from Obsidian.
Players hope that the studio takes note of this situation and considers implementing changes that allow for more pacifist alternatives, so that those who wish to avoid violence can fully enjoy The Outer Worlds 2. In the meantime, the community remains active in seeking creative solutions to this dilemma.

Prime Video is preparing to bring back fans of the Fallout video game to its unsettling post-nuclear world with the premiere of the second season, scheduled for December 17. This adaptation has generated significant anticipation since its first arrival on the platform, where fans of Bethesda’s game have celebrated how the series has captured the essence of the original material.
A post-apocalyptic road trip
In this new installment, the relationship between two key characters will be explored: Lucy MacLean, played by Ella Purnell, and The Ghoul, a disturbing character portrayed by Walton Goggins. According to Purnell, the second season will delve into the bond between both characters, developing a closer connection amid the adversities of the desolate and dangerous wasteland environment. This emotional aspect promises to add a layer of depth to the narrative, which could attract both new viewers and fans of the video game saga.
The first season of Fallout received mixed reviews, but its rich world-building and memorable characters have kept the audience intrigued. The series, like the video game it is based on, features a universe full of cultural references and dark humor, providing writers and the cast with a vast terrain to explore in future seasons. This new focus on the relationship between Lucy and The Ghoul could be a clear indication of a significant evolution in the story, which has generated excitement among fans.
While many are eager to see how these characters develop, there are still some uncertainties about the direction the plot will take in this second season. However, it can be anticipated that Prime Video will continue to leverage the themes of survival and morality that have characterized the Fallout universe, all framed by the aesthetic beauty of its post-apocalyptic setting.

ZeniMax Online Studios and Bethesda have launched one of the most exciting events in the history of The Elder Scrolls Online: The Battle for the Wailing Wall. This epic event aims to mobilize players from all servers to join the war against the Worm Cult, and it is already underway. Players can head to Skordo the Knife, located at the Stirk Brotherhood camp or at the wall of Sunhold, to participate in this ambitious contest.
Only for those who have the content pass
The Battle for the Convulsing Wall presents itself as a monumental challenge, divided into three thematic phases. The first two phases require players to complete daily missions on servers with varying rhythms, while the third phase, which is the climax of the event, will take place over a week. This final phase is crucial, as not all servers will fall at the same time, creating a dynamic of competition and collaboration among players.
It is important to highlight that this event is not available to all players, but is limited to those who have the 2025 content pass. Once the event is completed, participants will be able to access the Eastern Solstice and continue with the story of the Season of the Worm Cult, Part 2.
To encourage participation, ZeniMax has promised a variety of rewards, including treasures, gold, outfit styles, and a unique title: ‘Wall Breaker’. The magnitude of this initiative not only promises to entertain the Tamriel community but could also set a precedent for future events in the MMORPG, generating high expectations among players.

Since the launch of Starfield in 2023, Bethesda has not provided significant updates about the game, which has led to the community questioning the future of this project. Tim Lamb, the game’s executive producer, has recently spoken about future improvements in space gameplay, although details are scarce. Despite these efforts, many players feel frustrated by the lack of new content since 2025 and the absence of major updates in the short term.
If I don’t see it, I don’t believe it
The situation complicates with the recent popularity of No Man’s Sky, which has launched new corvette-class ships along with a modular creation and customization system. This has led some players to reconsider their interest in Starfield, especially since currently, the gameplay options in space are limited to combat, trading, and fast travel. The comparison does not play in favor of Bethesda’s title, which could lose relevance quickly if it fails to capture players’ attention.
Lamb has confirmed that the team is working on improving exploration and space gameplay. Additionally, he has promised free updates with features requested by players and new systems that, however, will not arrive before 2026. This long period without relevant content has raised concerns about Starfield’s ability to retain public interest while competitors like No Man’s Sky and Star Citizen continue to introduce new features regularly.
Likewise, rumors are circulating about a possible PS5 version of Starfield, although it is considered complicated for its release in 2025. Expectations are high, but the community is wondering if the title will be able to withstand a year without substantial updates. With an eye on the future, uncertainty about the game’s fate persists.

The return has reignited the debate among fans about the canonicity of New Vegas, an iconic title in the franchise, which is expected to have important references in this new installment.
Welcome to New Vegas!
Fans of the series will be able to enjoy a renewed cast that will join the already known protagonists from the first season, such as Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins. Recognized figures like Justin Theroux, who will play the iconic Mr. House, Kumail Nanjani, and Macaulay Culkin are also joining the project, generating great anticipation among the saga’s followers.
Season 2 promises to be an exciting experience, with a trailer that has left fans wanting more, showcasing fascinating elements like monsters, aerial battles, and a glimpse of the retro aesthetic of New Vegas before its destruction. The two-and-a-half-minute preview has hinted at a vibrant universe that aims to capture both series veterans and new viewers venturing into the Wasteland for the first time.
With this new confirmed installment, Fallout has been renewed for a third season, and according to the showrunners’ plans, it could extend to a total of six seasons. This suggests a strong commitment to the continuity of the story and the quality of the content, which allows fans to feel confident about the future of the series. Undoubtedly, the Wasteland remains a place full of adventures to discover.

Starfield, one of the most anticipated titles in Bethesda’s history, has generated mixed opinions since its release. Despite its vast universe, the most significant criticism has revolved around its space exploration system, which limits the freedom of movement between planets to predefined menus, instead of offering a free and uninterrupted journey.
To explore space at your leisure
However, a recent game update has rekindled hope among fans. According to various sources, including Reddit users, lines of code such as OnShipCruiseArrival and cruise mode have been found, suggesting the possible implementation of a more immersive interplanetary travel system. These fragments have been detected in modified files, leading many to speculate that Bethesda may be working on this highly requested feature by the gaming community.
Currently, travel between planets in Starfield is done solely through a fast travel system. Although players can attempt to fly from one place to another, the game does not allow for smooth transitions or authentic landings, which limits the exploration experience. The community has expressed its enthusiasm for the possibility of interplanetary travel, and some have mentioned the Astrogate mod as an example of how a more open navigation experience could be implemented within the game engine.
Bethesda, for its part, has stated that it continues to work on improvements for the title and will share more details in the coming months. Although the company has not officially confirmed rumors about an interplanetary travel system, the appearance of these lines of code unexpectedly has led many players to speculate about ongoing development, which could mean a revolution in how players experience the universe of Starfield.
